View Full Version : How to get top off K-Rain K8000 sprinkler?

I need to disassemble and clean a K-Rain K8000 sprinkler head filter.
The K-Rain website gives very weak information on how to do it. In the
online FAQ, it says, "Unscrew the top and lift the complete sprinkler
assembly out of the housing can." That doesn't give me enough
information for the K8000 I am standing here holding in my hand. I
just cannot get the top off. Exactly where does the top end and the
bottom start? Where I should put the pressure on the top unit in order
to remove it? Does it unscrew beneath the head? Above the head? There
are three vertical bars at the top, but they are too far apart to grip
- even with a large pliers. Has anyone ever taken one of these apart?
Please help.
Thank!
Carol

Great! Thank you very much! I see the interactive guide is back up on K-Rain's website. It was down last weekend so I couldn't get to it.

I had removed the retension screw out - I just can't seem to unscrew the housing cap. I can't find a way to get any leverage on it.

Try Gently knocking the head of the sprinkler against something solid. Sometimes calcium build up can get in there and harden and you need to break it loose before you can unscrew it.

Also you could dunk the whole sprinkler in hot water (or even vinegar) and most of the deposits will dissolve. Inj fact the head might even expand and make it much easier to remove.

Best of luck.
